Meet the Maker: Sylvie Master Ceramicist
Sylvie leads us to her workshop above the kitchen, the morning light streaming through the window. Bags of clay are piled opposite a desk, littered with various tools. Sylvie sets to work, making the process look effortless as decades of experience will do. I am fascinated by her resourceful collections of tools.

Meet The Maker: Alicia, Master Weaver
Amongst stall after stall of weavings that looked identical, Alicia’s innate understanding of colour coupled with a curiosity pushing the boundaries of traditional weaving techniques immediately caught our attention.
Meet The Maker: Sergio, Master Weaver
“Porque? Porque” is Sergio’s catchphrase; “Why? Because…”. He laughs with good humour when we bring this to his attention. This phrase reveals a lot about his character; his professionalism, ability to problem solve and eagerness to talk about his craft. Here we chat with him about his love of rug weaving.
Meet the Maker: Magdalena, Master Dyer
Magdalena learnt the art of weaving when she was eight years old and later the art of dying when she was twelve. These skills are embedded in her bones and it shows with her quiet confidence.

Armando is a third-generation hat maker from Oaxaca. His amber speckled eyes instantly reveal his honest and warm-hearted nature, while his weathered hands speak of his dedication to his inherited craft. His workshop is dark and dusty; piles of unmade hats and machinery from the turn of the century.
